CUTEK Partners with Systemware to Create Episys® Integration Piece for UFCU
MURRIETA, Calif. - March 4, 2010 -- In early 2009, University Federal Credit Union ($1 billion; 136,974 members; Austin, TX) selected Systemware, a leading enterprise document management software provider, and implemented Systemware FS™ as part of its major systems upgrade – simultaneously converting to the Symitar™ Episys® core processing system. To ensure Systemware FS and Symitar seamlessly work together, tech provider and consultant, CUTEK, was brought in with its Episys programming expertise to complete this complicated project in just three months. Now with the seamless integration of the Systemware FS and Symitar solutions, University FCU’s staff and members have a single, efficient platform to proactively manage documents such as electronic statements, tax forms, loan documents, etc.
Key points of integration with the Symitar Episys system include:
- Established standardized mapping of member, account, account type, and branch information used for indexing of documents within Systemware FS.
- Enabled paperless capture of SymForms output from Symitar into Systemware FS with indexing fields to eliminate printing, scanning and data entry.
- Provided direct access of viewing documents within Systemware FS directly from Symitar application to eliminate separate logons and additional training.
- Configured account update process to ensure synchronization between Symitar and Systemware FS.
An important part of the integration project was migrating millions of existing documents from an older platform. With Systemware FS, University FCU now has not only a convenient, single view of all member documents for new accounts, transactions, notices and statements, but also a way to proactively manage all documents throughout their lifecycle.
“We needed an integrated solution in a short period of time,” says, Edward Christians, Senior Manager of IT for University Federal Credit Union, of the three-month window for project completion. “We chose a great solution in Systemware to work with our Episys system, but we needed somebody to help make those pieces of technology talk to each other. CUTEK came in with their experienced programmers and did a great job for us when we had a very tight deadline.”
According to Christians, CUTEK created a link to a miniature interface for University FCU’s Episys/Systemware solution, which is an integrated HTML display that shows member documents via a RepGen program. “What’s great is that the way the integration was designed our staff didn’t have to learn another system,” he adds. “There was very little staff training needed.”
The implementation includes a migration of documents from an older application to Systemware FS as well as integration with existing applications. “Prior to its latest technology integration, Christians says the credit union IT staff had to manage a separate document management system, and staff had to leave the core system to access member documents. With the seamless integration piece, the Systemware FS solution is a snap to access and retrieve from Episys, thus, providing member documents to staff and ultimately members much faster.
“Coupled with the Systemware solution, the CUTEK integration puts documents in the hands of our staff faster for faster member service,” Christian says. “That’s a big plus for us.”
